Grand Prix BIC
A playful and collective interactive artwork combining car racing, BIC culture, and learning through play.
Grand Prix BIC
Grand Prix BIC is an interactive installation in the form of a game table, accommodating 1 to 4 participants. It offers a collective and accessible experience, where competition becomes a fun pretext to explore the world and history of the BIC brand.
The game’s aesthetics draw directly from BIC’s graphic DNA. The tracks and environments are composed from various BIC pens, while the cars are hand-drawn. The vehicles feature the colors of the famous BIC 4 Colours pens, which define each player’s visual identity.
Before each race, participants face a random True/False question about the world of BIC: the brand’s history, product design, uses, innovations, or quirky anecdotes.
A correct answer grants the player a speed bonus, directly influencing the upcoming race. Additional information then explains the correct answer before the race begins. Players must then hammer two buttons to make their car move as fast as possible — a deliberate nod to classic retro racing games, where frantic button-pressing was key to winning.
Integration & Vision
Grand Prix BIC integrates seamlessly into exhibition spaces, museums, brand events, and cultural venues. The multiplayer table encourages interaction: playing side by side, visitors share a common experience where light competition enhances engagement and retention.
The installation is particularly suited to showcasing industrial heritage, making a company’s history, expertise, and innovation accessible and engaging. Questions, educational content, and game settings are fully customizable to suit the context and target audience.
Visitors can also take part in a simple interactive game: they are invited to search for various elements—such as characters, objects, or animals—hidden within the composition. The interaction is multiplayer, using a control panel equipped with two arcade joysticks that allow participants to explore the artwork and reveal its concealed elements. When something is found, detailed information appears. Meanwhile, the animatronic eye reacts to the players’ discoveries, enhancing the immersion and the living presence of the installation.
